We are delighted to announce the signing of Striker Jake Hyde!
33-year-old Jake joins after picking up a Vanarama National League South winners medal last season with Yeovil Town. The experienced striker has made plenty of appearances throughout his career, including over 100 in both League 2 and the Vanarama National League. He has an international cap to his name, having been selected for England C in September 2013, following a good start to the season with Barnet. Last season he made 19 National League South appearances, including playing the full 90 in a 1-1 draw against the Clarets, scoring 5 goals.
Manager Robbie Simpson said: “I am extremely excited and delighted to be able to bring Jake to the football club!
It is a similar situation to Liam Trotter actually, as soon as we found out that Jake was considering stepping away from full time, professional football we immediately became very interested.
I think on the flip side to that, Jake was very interested on us, 1 because of how we performed last year but also he is extremely good friends with Liam Trotter and is in the same situation Liam was a few years ago.
Liam decided to join us and has given us a glowing reference so a big thank you to him!
So I spoke with Jake over the last couple of weeks to make sure it was right for him and right for us and I think we are both equally excited to get going.
It is not often that we get to sign a player like this, particularly a centre forward and we haven’t been able too really since I became the manager.
So I am really excited to have someone like Jake in the team who can be such a good influence at the top end of the pitch and add some physicality to the top end of the pitch, he will be able to hold the ball up and make it stick and get in the box and score goals.
Our young players will learn so much from him and love having him there, I am sure.
We are delighted to get Jake over the line and we can’t wait to see him in a Claret shirt!”
