We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Glenn McConnell!
19-year-old Glenn McConnell joins on loan from League 1 side Cambridge United. McConnell is an attacking midfielder who has had experience playing in the National League South. In the 22/23 season, the 19-year-old played on loan for St Albans City, making 17 NLS appearances and scoring 5 goals. He has recently signed a 3-year deal at Cambridge United, keeping him with the U’s for the foreseeable future.
Manager Robbie Simpson said: “I’ve been a big admirer of Glenn for a while, going back a few years really to when we brought Kai Yearn in on loan.
Glenn was another in Kai Yearn’s team who we really liked and that we wanted to get to the football club but he actually ended up going to St Albans and having a great run in their team when they reached the playoff final a few years back, getting lots of goals and assists.
Since going back to Cambridge he has managed to force his way into the first team there over the last season and he is certainly a player that they have high hopes for, giving him a new deal in the summer.
Unfortunately he then picked up an injury and he’s come back from that now and has been fit for a few weeks and he has wanted to come out and get games.
As soon as we heard that Glenn was available he was someone we showed interest in greatly and we’re really pleased that Cambridge and Glenn have chosen to come to us.
We are really looking forward to seeing Glenn in a Clarets shirt and hopefully he has the same impact as he did for St Albans!”
Welcome to the Clarets Glenn!
