Bath City v Chelmsford City, National League South, Twerton Park, Saturday 11th January 2025, 3:00pm kick-off.

Chelmsford City head to Somerset on Saturday to face Bath City in the National League South.

The Clarets’ three-game unbeaten league run came to an end last weekend against Enfield Town, but Robbie Simpson’s men will aim to bounce back by continuing the club’s strong record against the Romans this Saturday.

Since the appointment of Darren Way last month as their new manager, Bath City have continued to enjoy an upturn in form, losing only once in Way’s first three games in charge.

Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…

Team and match stats:

  • Bath City are the second-lowest scorers in the National League South this season, with 22 goals.
  • Chelmsford City have won six of their last seven matches against this weekend’s opponents.
  • Bath’s last home league win over the Clarets came in 2018.

Opposition:

Bath City have come into strong form recently, winning three of their last four National League South games while conceding just once in that time.

Their recent resurgence has lifted them to 17th in the league standings, 10 points clear of the relegation zone. Their positive results have coincided with the appointment of Darren Way, who took over as manager two days before Christmas. Way’s tenure began with two consecutive wins, although his side lost to Dorking Wanderers in their most recent outing.

Way replaced long-serving manager Jerry Gill, who departed the club in November. The bulk of Gill’s squad has remained at Twerton Park and recognisable figures such as Kieran Parselle, Danny Greenslade and Scott Wilson have continued to be regulars in black and white.

31-year-old Wilson is the Romans’ top scorer this season, having netted seven National League South strikes. Wilson has been Bath City’s form player under Way so far, scoring three goals in three games since his arrival in the dugout.

Team news:

Ryan Blackman is nearing a return to action and could feature soon.

Vice-captain Charlie Ruff might be a doubt for this weekend’s match after suffering an ankle injury at Enfield Town last time out. Harry Barbrook and Finley Wilkinson made their Chelmsford City debuts against the Towners after signing for the club last week.
