Chelmsford City v Chesham United, National League South, EMJ Community Stadium, Saturday 1st February 2025, 3:00pm kick-off.
Chelmsford City go toe to toe with Chesham United for the second time in less than a fortnight when the two sides meet in Essex this weekend.
The Clarets were hosted by the Generals in Buckinghamshire on January 21st and shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Meadow.
This result ensured Chesham remained one point ahead of Robbie Simpson’s men in the league table, and the gap between both sides remains the same heading into this weekend’s clash. City will hope to reverse this gap come Saturday evening, potentially allowing them to climb into the top half of the National League South standings.
Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…
Team and match stats:
- City are unbeaten in their last four games at the EMJ Community Stadium (W2, D2).
- Chesham are on a six-match unbeaten run in the National League South, which stretches back to before Christmas.
- There has only been one previous meeting between the two sides prior to this season, on Saturday 30th October 1983. Chesham won 3-1 at New Writtle Street in a FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie. Former City player Gary Huxley scored twice for the visitors.

Opposition:
Chesham United are enjoying life in the National League South following their promotion last season. Joint-managers James Duncan and Michael Murray have shared the dugout responsibilities since their appointments in 2018 and led the Generals to the Southern League Premier South title in 2023-24.
Duncan and Murray have built on their side’s successes from last season.
They have guided Chesham into the top half of the National League South table on the back of an eye-catching six-game unbeaten run and are the league’s best performing promoted side up to now.
Forward Nathan Minhas has been one of the Generals’ key players this season and will be one to watch on Saturday. Minhas has extensive experience playing in the sixth tier and has contributed 11 goals and assists in the 2024-25 season.
Minhas’ former Slough Town teammate, Matt Lench, showed his experience when he faced Chelmsford City in the reverse fixture at The Meadow. Lench’s quality from set pieces helped his side score both their goals – his free kick set up Lewis Rolfe’s first half goal, while his clinical late penalty secured the second equaliser.
Team news:
Forward Jordan Greenidge was sent off during Monday’s 0-0 draw against Maidstone United but will be available this weekend; his suspension doesn’t come into effect until Tuesday’s away game at Bath City.
Robbie Simpson has several fitness concerns to assess following the game against the Stones.
