We can confirm that Dave Lawson will be retiring after 43 years of working as a Physio.

Dave Lawson has been with the Clarets for the past 8 years, initially joining under Rod Stringer. He has worked as Physio and the club’s Sport Therapist, most recently working alongside and helping Arron Benstead.

In May 2023, Lawson decided to step back from his regular duties to spend more time with his family in the South-West. While he did not hold a formal position, he remained involved with the club on an as-needed basis. Manager Robbie Simpson described him as “an amazing guy and a complete club legend,” highlighting the deep respect and affection he commands within the organisation.

Prior to his tenure at Chelmsford City, Lawson worked with Billericay Town FC, having joined from Enfield alongside manager Gary Calder. He has also worked for clubs such as Notts County, where he worked under manager Neil Warnock.

He said: “I’ve always enjoyed working at Chelmsford, it’s made me some good memories and I’ve made some good friends.

“I’ve seen plenty of changes at the club, managers, players and chairman and experienced the good and bad times but I very much hope the good times will continue!

“I will miss the buzz of the dressing room and the banter, but I won’t miss the music!

“I’ll very much miss the Saturdays buzz and hopefully I’ll be able come back as a fan in the future!”

We wish Dave the very best with his retirement and hope that he enjoys it!
