We are delighted to announce the signing of Midfielder Tom Lapslie!
The 29-year-old joins the Clarets after a season on the sideline following an injury at the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign playing for Torquay United. Lapslie spent his youth with Maldon Town and Ongar Juniors, before joining Colchester United aged 16. He went on to have a gradual rise into the Colchester first team, making his debut in the FA Cup away to Cardiff City in 2015. He would go on to make over 170 appearances for Colchester, including picking up the club’s young player of the year award in the 16-17 season. His departure saw him move down South in 2021, joining Torquay United. He played for the Gulls across 3 seasons, 2 in the National League and 1 in the National League South. He featured in Torquay’s 2-1 victory over the Clarets in September 2023 and would go on to make 34 league appearances that season.
Upon joining the club, Lapslie said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be onboard, it’s going to be an exciting season.
“I can’t wait to see all the fans in pre season and get up and running once again.
“Get behind us this season and mostly importantly, up the Clarets!”
Manager Angelo Harrop said: “I’m really happy we’ve managed to get Tom onboard, he was one of our top targets this summer.
“He is a player that I know well from his time at Colchester United, I’ve followed his journey over the past few years.
“He’s a serial winner and will be a big part of the new era and a big part of the project.”
A big warm welcome to Tom and we look forward to seeing him in action!
