We are delighted to announce the signing of Defender Ben Tompkins from Hemel Hempstead Town, subject to agreement of compensation!
The 20-year-old joins after a season with National League South outfit Hemel Hempstead Town. He featured 36 times in the league for the Hertfordshire based outfit, netting 2 goals. Prior to joining them he was on the books of Luton Town and had 2 loan spells away from Kenilworth Road. Firstly Ben featured for Bedford Town, where he got his first experience of mens football. Then, most notably, Ben joined Braintree Town on loan and formed an immense partnership with fellow new signing Joe Grimwood. He played 37 times in the National League South as he helped them to promotion via the playoffs.
Upon joining the club, Tompkins said: “I’m buzzing to be here, it’s been in the pipeline for a while now so I’m very happy it’s now all sorted.
“I had a really good relationship with Angelo previously and have always wanted to work with him again so doing so on a full time basis is even better.
“I’m ready to crack on now and can’t wait for the start of pre-season!”
Manager Angelo Harrop said: “Ben is another fantastic addition to our squad, I’m delighted we’ve been able to get this deal over the line.
“He’s a player I’ve worked before and I know that not only is he a great player but he’s a great person and a really great character.
“He’s got big potential so I’m delighted he’s onboard with us!”
A big warm welcome to Ben and we look forward to seeing him in action!
