Witham Town v Chelmsford City, Pre-Season Friendly, The Simarco Stadium, Tuesday 29th July 2025, 7:45pm kick-off.
Chelmsford City make a short journey down the A12 to face Witham Town in the club’s penultimate friendly of pre-season.
The all-Essex clash represents the Clarets’ final match on the road before the Enterprise National League South kicks off, and offers another valuable opportunity for Harrop’s men to prepare for the league opener against Horsham, as well as this weekend’s sold-out home clash against Arsenal.
Here’s all that Clarets fans need to know ahead of the game against Witham…

Opposition:
Witham have experienced a productive pre-season campaign, having won three of their seven friendlies played so far. Their clash against the Clarets this week represents their final opportunity to get minutes in the legs before they kickstart their 2025/26 campaign with an FA Cup clash against Frenford at the weekend.
The Town are managed by former Charlton and Gillingham man Garry Kimble, who is heading into the third full season of his second stint at the club. Kimble had previously been in charge during what some consider as the most successful period in Witham’s history, in which they were promoted twice in three seasons and reached the Isthmian Premier Division.
To guide them back to the third tier of non-league football, Kimble will hope his side can better the 7th-place finish they achieved last campaign, which saw them narrowly miss out on a play-off spot by six points. He has continued to strengthen his squad this month in quest to mount another push at the top end of the league, most recently adding Ben Allen, Jordan Elongo and David Onome.
Witham Town is delighted to announce that @Ben_Allen29 has verbally agreed to join the club for the 2025/26 season.

The attacking midfielder is expected to bring goals and creativity to Garry Kimble’s side, having previously played for Basildon United and Heybridge Swifts.
Team news:
Midfielder Tom Lapslie took to the pitch for the first time against Bromley at the weekend, after more than a year on the sidelines. Dom Odusanya and Ricky Holmes, who both missed the game due to injury concerns, are working their way back towards a quick return.
