Chelmsford City Football Club can confirm that Defender, Ade Oluwo, has departed to join Vanarama National League outfit Barnet.
Oluwo, signed for the Clarets in August 2020 from Fisher FC and has gone on to make 85 appearances and score 6 goals during his time in Essex including 27 appearances and 3 goals in our 2022/23 season! The 23-year-old departs to the league above having made a great impact on the club during his 3 seasons as a Claret!
Manager, Robbie Simpson, shared his thoughts on Oluwo’s departure “We’re really pleased for Ade. If I think back to when we first got him in on Trial from Fisher, we played Enfield in a pre-season friendly all those years ago. It feels like forever ago now because of COVID. I remember speaking to him and telling him after that Enfield pre-season friendly that we were going to offer him a deal.”
“The way his face lit up and the biggest smile came onto his face and that was, still to date, one of my best moments as a manager. Giving someone that joy and just seeing his face light up like that is something that will stay with me for a very, very long time. His progression since then has been absolutely outstanding, he was named in Young Team of the Year last season and he could’ve easily left in the summer last year but he realised that he was still learning and he still had a bit more to do to go to a club at a higher level and stake his claim properly like he wants to.”
“He’s gone about things in the perfect way, he’s given everything for this club. I know he will look back on his time at the club fondly. He won’t be a stranger I’m sure, he’ll be over when he can and he really is such a lovely person off the pitch. You just know he is going to make the most of his ability on the pitch because of his character. We wish Ade all the best and we’ll keep fond eyes on him from afar.
All of us at Chelmsford City FC wish to extend our best wishes to Ade for his move and for his future career. We thank Ade for all of his efforts in a Claret shirt during his time in Essex!
