Chelmsford City v Boreham Wood, National League South, EMJ Community Stadium, Monday 2nd December 2024, 7:45pm kick-off.
Chelmsford City aim to secure back-to-back home wins within 72 hours as they welcome Boreham Wood to the EMJ Community Stadium on Monday night.
City ended the month of November with three points against Slough Town on Saturday, and will now aim to begin the month of December with a win against the Wood.
Boreham Wood were also in action on Saturday and earned a late victory away to Bath City – meaning Luke Garrad’s men will also be looking to record their second victory in just over two days.
Team and match stats:
- Boreham Wood have played nine National League South away games this season, winning three, drawing three and losing three. They have also scored 10 times on the road and conceded 10 goals away from home.
- Garrard’s side have conceded 15 league goals in 2024-25 – the least of any National League South team.
- City are winless in their last four competitive games against Monday’s opponents (P4, L4).
- The Wood have scored 10 goals across their last two visits to the EMJ Community Stadium.

Opposition:
Boreham Wood have experienced mixed results since returning to the National League South in August. The Wood’s relegation to the sixth tier was confirmed on the final day of the 2023-24 season, which ended their nine-year stint playing National League football.
Long-serving manager Luke Garrard left Meadow Park at the end of last season, and was replaced by former Oxford City manager Ross Jenkins. Jenkins’ stint managing in Hertfordshire ended abruptly in September, after only 121 days in the dugout. Jenkins’ departure paved the way for Garrard to return to Meadow Park and reunite with many familiar faces in his squad.
The Wood made a handful of summer additions, but many members of Garrard’s National League squad remained at the club under Jenkins. Garrard has taken charge of 10 National Leagues South clashes since beginning his second stint in charge of the Wood, winning five, drawing three, and losing two of these matches.
A former Claret among the Wood’s ranks is Chris Bush. Defender Bush played 31 games in a Chelmsford City shirt during 2015-16. Bush has been a mainstay at Meadow Park since 2022, and has played in 16 of his side’s 18 league games in 2024-252
Team news:
Following the quick turnaround from Saturday’s clash against Slough Town, Robbie Simpson will carefully assess the fitness of his squad ahead of their second clash in just over 48 hours.
