Chelmsford City Football Club are delighted to announce that Midfielder, Callum Watts, has joined the club following a successful period on trial with the Clarets
Watts joins the Clarets following a successful period on Trial with the club having seen him feature in all 4 of our Pre-Season games so far this campaign. Watts made 54 appearances for Grays Athletic last season scoring 15 as they finished 5th in the Isthmian League North Division, losing 3-2 in their play-off Semi-Final against AFC Sudbury who would later win the final and promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division.
Manager Robbie Simpson spoke on the signing of Callum Watts “Delighted to bring Callum to the Football Club. When you start Pre-Season you have quite a number of trialists and certain ones catch your eye, and Callum did from the very first training session actually. You look for him to be consistent from each training session onwards and he’s certainly done that, he’s got better and better every time he’s trained and every time he’s played. We’re delighted to give Callum this opportunity with us.”
“He had a very good season last year with Grays Athletic, he was on Adam’s radar very early on to bring in and have a closer look at and I’m really thankful to Adam for doing that. We feel that Callum has great potential to progress his football career and we’re delighted he feels that he has the best opportunity to do that with us. I look forward to seeing him more in a Claret shirt.”
Callum commented on getting the deal done and his thoughts around joining the club “It’s such an exciting opportunity to sign for Chelmsford City in the National League South and I intend to make the most of my chance and give it my all. The lads in pre-season have been brilliant and there is a real buzz in the team. I hope I can make the fans as happy as I am right now.”
We look forward to seeing Callum continue to impress in a Claret shirt this season.
