Another successful year for Chelmsford City Football Club and it’s Football Academy at Moulsham School
Last week saw the release of the latest set of ‘A’ Level results and the Chelmsford City Academy students, who are based at Moulsham School, certainly did not disappoint. Between them, the fourteen pupils amassed 23 ‘A’ Levels, 78% at Grade ‘C’ and above, and 14 BTech’s at Distinction level; an amazing haul.
So what’s next for this cohort;
- Six are off to various Universities around the UK;
- One is going to continue his education at college in the United States;
- Two will shortly be starting apprenticeships;
- The remainder have already secured full-time employment with roles in areas as diverse as finance and construction
Chelmsford City FC is very proud of its Academy programme which, in contrast to most Football Academy programmes, places great emphasis on academic achievement.
Chelmsford City FC Chairman, Steve Shore, commented: “The students have done incredibly well this year and continue to get the results that help them on their way to a bright future. Mickey Spillane, Academy Manager and the team of Simeon Jackson and Louis Dunne, do a great job of ensuring we get the right balance of football and education. We know that whilst many have the dream of being full-time footballers, for the majority this is all it will ever be so our job is to provide those that don’t make it, in conjunction with Moulsham School, the best education to give them future choices in their lives.”
Chelmsford City FC prides itself on the quality of the coaching provided and the match up with a leading Chelmsford School in Moulsham is, for it, the perfect combination. Both Academy Manager Mickey Spillane and Simeon Jackson played for Norwich City and bring that wealth of experience with them. In addition Simeon has been capped 49 times for Canada and they both bring to their roles the experience of top level football and instil that in their students.
This week sees the release of the GCSE results and there a many hopeful that they get the grades required to join the Chelmsford City Academy at Moulsham School. The club wishes all those waiting for GCSE results this week the best of luck and hopefully they get what they need to continue their education or career.
If anyone is interested in joining the Chelmsford City Academy in 2024 then trials will be held in October so follow the club to make sure you don’t miss out.
