We know some of our fans have concerns about our decision to go cashless at the turnstiles next season, and we want to be upfront about the reasons – and the benefits.
Here’s why we’re making this change:
🔐 Safety First: Less cash on site means greater security for everyone – fans, volunteers, and staff.
⏱️ Faster Entry: Contactless payments help reduce queues and speed up entry to the ground, especially during busy matchday periods.
📊 Better Planning: Digital sales give us real-time data to plan staffing, stock levels, and facilities more efficiently – ultimately giving fans a better experience.
💷 Cost-Efficient: Handling cash comes with extra admin, security, and banking costs. Reducing these helps us reinvest more into the club – whether that’s in players, the stadium, or improving the fan experience.
We understand change isn’t always easy. That’s why we’ll continue to offer help and guidance for anyone unsure how to use a card or contactless system. Our ticket office and support team will be available to assist, and we’ll be offering pre-purchased ticket options online and in-person throughout the season to make it as smooth as possible.
As ever the proof is in the pudding and so far over 2,000 fans have used our cashless ticketing system already to purchase tickets for our game against Arsenal with no issues.
This is about future-proofing the club and keeping up with how football is evolving – while still staying true to our community roots.
Thank you for your understanding, and as always – thank you for your incredible support.
