We are delighted to announce the signing of Defender David Longe-King!
The 30-year-old joins after a third spell with St Albans City, where he played 43 times and scored 3 times in the National League South last season. His career started out with Colney Heath, before he joined St Albans. His time there saw a few loan spells before he departed and made his name with Biggleswade Town. His picked up an England C cap before his return to St Albans, where his form granted him a move into the EFL with Newport County. After that, a spell with Grimsby Town came before he joined Dagenham & Redbridge. His 2-year stay with the Daggers came to an end last summer, a spell during which he also played on loan at National League side Eastleigh. He rejoined St Albans for the 2024-25 season, featuring in both games for the Saints against the Clarets.
Upon joining the club, Longe-King said: “I’m delighted to be here, the deal has been in the pipeline for a while now so I’m very happy to get it sorted.
“I came out of full time football last year so to get the opportunity to do that again is great for me and it will be great for the club.
It’s an exciting time to be at the club so I’m looking forward to getting started!”
Manager Angelo Harrop said: “I’m super happy that we’ve been able to get David on board, he is a really experienced defender who had plenty of teams after his signature.
“I watched him on a few occasions last season, including against Chelmsford, and he stood out for St Albans and was excellent at the back.
“He is physically outstanding, has a great turn of pace and I just can’t wait to get to work with him this season.”
A big warm welcome to David and we look forward to seeing him in action!
