Eastbourne Borough v Chelmsford City, National League South, Priory Lane (The ReachTV Stadium), Saturday 25th January 2025, 3:00pm kick-off.
Chelmsford City travel to Sussex on Saturday to face Eastbourne Borough.
The Clarets’ demanding fixture schedule continues this weekend as Robbie Simpson’s side play their third game in seven days. City have gone unbeaten in their two matches so far this week and will look to extend that run by earning another positive result against The Sports, after beating them 4-2 at the EMJ Community Stadium earlier this season.
Adam Murray’s men represent tough opposition for Chelmsford City, sitting 5th in the National League South table and currently enjoying a nine-game unbeaten run in the league.
Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…
Team and match stats:
- Eastbourne Borough are yet to lose a National League South game at The ReachTV Stadium this season. They are one of two teams in the division with an undefeated home record.
- Chelmsford City are unbeaten in their last five clashes against The Sports (W4, D1).
- City did the league double over Borough last season for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign.

Opposition:
Eastbourne Borough have enjoyed a strong 2024-25 National League South campaign. Manager Adam Murray marked his year anniversary at The ReachTV Stadium earlier this month and has guided his side firmly into the mix at the top of the table during his first full season in charge.
The nine game unbeaten run which Murray’s side are on, which stretches back to November, has further solidified their promotion credentials. Looking to continue their push for promotion, The Sports have made a number of changes to their squad this week.
Dan Quick and Jayden Davis have both swapped Sussex for Kent by joining Welling United on loan, while midfielder Brayden Johnson joined EFL Championship side Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee after being a key part of Murray’s side in the first half of the campaign.
The Sports have moved quickly to strengthen their squad following Johnson’s departure and have completed the signing of Josh Anifowose. Anifowose joined from fellow National League South side Aveley, where he scored three goals from central midfield this season.

A familiar face to Clarets fans in The Sports’ squad is George Alexander, who forward played for Chelmsford City last season after signing in February. The forward made 16 National League South appearances in claret and scored eight goals for the club. Alexander moved to Sussex in May and has netted 11 league goals for Eastbourne this season.
Team news:
Bradley Williams will be unavailable for selection, having recently completed a loan move to fellow Essex side Billericay Town.
Archie Tamplin, Charlie Ruff, Finley Wilkinson and Ruaridh Donaldson could be doubts for this weekend after missing the Clarets’ midweek clash against Chesham United.
Sam Oguntayo will be assessed ahead of the game in Sussex against his former club after being forced off at The Meadow with a dead leg.
Jordan Greenidge’s appearance against Chesham marked his return to action for the Clarets. Forward Greenidge had missed several games since December due to injury.
Defender Joe Rye will be pushing to make his first Chelmsford City start. Rye completed his move to the club on Tuesday and was then used from the substitutes’ bench against Chesham.
