We are delighted to announce the signing of young defender Ed Tassell, who joins our Claret Pathway from Cambridge City!

The 18-year-old joins having played 65 games at Step 4 already for Cambridge City. Ed will join up with our Pathway and head back to Cambridge City on dual registration. He has featured for both Cambridge and us already this pre-season, playing for the Lilywhites against Cambridge United last weekend. He then featured for the Clarets in the second half at Brentwood Town, partnering with Joe Grimwood.

Upon joining the club, Tassell said: “’I’m very happy to be here and really looking forward to the new opportunities that come with joining the club.

Alongside that I’m looking forward to continuing my development at Cambridge City as well.”

Head of Player Pathway Rob Moore said: “We’re continually looking to add strong young talent to our pathway and Ed fits the bill perfectly. Despite only being 18, he already has over 65 appearances with Cambridge City and we think has the potential to kick on further over the next 1-2 years.

He’s trained well with the first team over pre season and playing alongside Joe Grimwood this week shows him the level he needs to get to. It’s so important young players play regularly, so Ed will return to Cambridge City where he is familiar and continue to progress his game with them throughout the season.

A big warm welcome to Ed and we look forward to seeing him in action!
