Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 Vanarama National League South Season, the club are now able to confirm our Retained list ahead of the 2024/25 Campaign!
ACADEMY
Offered to join 1st team for pre season with a view to progressing on our CCFC pathway;
– Harrison Perrin
– Theo Duffin
Academy manager Mickey Spillane gave his thoughts: “We are delighted to welcome back Harrison and Theo, both lads have excelled over the course of 2 years on the academy and played a pivotal part in our academy’s success.
They have showed lots of signs of potential to progress further within our CCFC pathway and we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop.”
Coggeshall
Offered place on our CCFC pathway;
– Demmy Nicolau
– Alfie Gilbey
Coggeshall manager Rob Moore gave his thoughts: “Alfie and Demmy have really benefitted from a year of regular senior football with Coggeshall and also performed well when given opportunities with the first team.
The experience of playing 40-50 games will really help their development and throughout next year we will be looking to continue that progression and push them further.
It is an exciting time for both and a demonstration of how the pathway works for the club.”
Dual Registration
Continuing on the CCFC pathway;
– Finn Wilkes
– Reggie Gregory
Manager Robbie Simpson gave his thoughts: “Finn and Reggie will be continuing on our pathway out of the academy and we will look to get them playing at a level which is closer to the first team, next season.
We will look to do a dual registration with either a step 3 or a step 4 side, ideally.
They have both had really good seasons at Coggeshall, on a personal level with their development, and we are looking forward to seeing them test themselves at the next level, next season.”
FIRST TEAM
Manager Robbie Simpson gave his thoughts on the situation of the squad: “Obviously we would like to keep as much of the group together, we have had a fantastic year.
We understand that there will be lots of interest for our players because of the success but we will be looking to keep as many as possible.
We have already got Freddie (Hockey) and Callum (Watts) signed for next season, so we are looking to keep as many of our group together and add to those 2.
The offering of new deals reflects that.”
Freddie Hockey and Callum Watts are contracted for the 24/25 season whilst new deals have been offered to Cameron James, Ben Brookes, Dave Winfield, Jermaine Francis, Louis Dunne, Luke Jenkins, Charlie Ruff, Ody Alfa and Josh Castiglione.
“We are still in discussion with a few players.
That is not necessarily from our side, it is from their side just as much as our whether our new structure, which we hope to announce in the coming days, is right for them or if how we are going to go about things next season will suit them.
So, we are still in discussions with those 4 but they’re very much in our thoughts to keep them if it works for both parties.”
The 4 players which are still in discussions are Jacob Marsden, Callum Jones, Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and Henry Ochieng.
“Moving on to the players leaving, we offered George a new deal but the announcement has already been made that he has signed for Eastbourne who seem to be acting very quickly just like they did last season, and Welling did the season before that.
They offered George an offer which he quickly wanted to accept so we have already had conversations with Eastbourne about compensation however it looks as if that may go to a tribunal.”
Eastbourne Borough announced the signing of George Alexander on May 7th.
“Finley Barbrook will return to Ipswich.
What a brilliant loan Fin had, we thank him so much for his efforts and having spoke to him he will always have the Clarets in his heart and look out for our results and we wish him really well in his continued development.”
Finley Barbrook returned to Ipswich and was awarded Academy Player Of the Year at their awards evening.
“A big thank you to Dylan Berry as it is not easy coming in at the last minute and joining a group that you do not know so a big thanks to him for his efforts as he is a great guy and I’m sure he will go on to be a fantastic keeper.”
Dylan Berry has now returned to Norwich City following his short spell with the club.
“Moving on to Samir and Anthony’s departures.
What an amazing guy Woody (Anthony Wordsworth) is!
He was probably the most popular guy in our dressing room and he knows when to be serious and make sure that the lads are on it but also knows when to lift the spirits and have a laugh, he is an absolute diamond of a block and, it doesn’t need to come from me, but what a brilliant player he is, just look at the levels he has played at.
I believe he may have a fantastic player coach opportunity which will be amazing to him but also amazing for the young players who can learn from what he has got to give and all his experiences.
And Samir, what a guy Samir is as well, very similar to Anthony Wordsworth in playing right at the very top level.
His influence on the young lads in our group has been unmatchable really, the value that he has given our young players has been incredible and he showed his undoubted quality at times on the pitch.
We are certainly not going to like coming up against him next season if he signs for another club in our league.
A big thanks from me personally to those 2 for everything they have done this season and I’ll be keeping in touch with both of them that is for sure.”
