We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Frankie Edwards!

18-year-old Frankie Edwards joins on loam from League 2 side Colchester United. Edwards is a central defender who spent last season on loan with Maldon & Tiptree. Over the summer Frankie put pen to paper on his first professional deal with Colchester United after his proactive loan spell and minutes with Colchester’s youth sides.

Manager Robbie Simpson said: “As soon as Galey got recalled really, we’ve obviously looked a little short for options in the centre-back area.

It’s something we’ve been looking to strengthen for a while regardless, but with Galey getting recalled we’ve tried to accelerate, trying to recruit in that area.

And Frank Edwards has been with Colchester’s first team for the last few weeks and done really, really well.

We’ve got some great reports from both Elliot Ward and Anthony Wordsworth who’s now there, plus Danny and Nicky Cowley.
All the reports are that he’s ready for men’s football and under-23s football is probably too easy for him now.
We’re really thankful to Colchester and really looking forward to seeing Frankie test himself in men’s football, we’re looking forward to seeing him put on a Claret shirt!

Welcome to the Clarets Frankie!
