We are delighted to announce the signing of Midfielder, Giovanni McGregor, from Wealdstone on Loan!
McGregor came through the youth system at Crystal Palace before departing for Dulwich Hamlet in 2020. After scoring 5 in 38 for The Hamlet, he departed in the Summer of 2022 before signing for Wealdstone in the Vanarama National League Premier in September 2022. The 24 year old has played 12 times for Wealdstone since signing and now joins the Clarets on loan to bolster the squad ahead of the final 10 games!
Manager Robbie Simpson spoke on the signing of McGregor “Since Kai was recalled we’ve been looking for another midfielder and that became even more important with Ernaldo being called back, we need some reinforcements in the middle of the pitch and we found out that Gio was available and it immediately took our interest.”
“He’s a really good all round midfield player, particularly in attacking areas. His set pieces are top notch and we found that out first hand when he played for Dulwich and scored against us from 30+ yards out.”
“His technical ability is really good, his physical attributes are very good. He knows this level and he has played very recently in the level above and we’re really excited to have him with us for the rest of the season and hopefully he can hit the ground running in a Claret shirt.”
Giovanni is available for selection for tomorrow’s trip to Hampton and Richmond Borough and an interview with ClaretsTV will be available to supporters later tonight!
