Exciting young forward joins the club
Chelmsford City is delighted to announce that forward Jamie Yila has agreed to join the club for next season after leaving Isthmian Premier League side Cray Wanderers.
Jamie, before appearing for Cray, played for Fisher Athletic and Tower Hamlets, before signing for the Wands after impressing against them in the FA Cup and in a subsequent pre-season trial.
Yila, 21, scored 12 goals last season for Cray Wanderers in 40 appearances, which included an impressive brace against Vanarama National League South playoff finalists Ebbsfleet United when Wanderers knocked the Fleet out of the FA Trophy.
Speaking to www.chelmsfordcityfc.com, Jamie said “The move came about when an old manager of mine said Chelmsford City were interested and so I spoke to the club and liked what they had to say.
“I’m a lively player who plays with flair. I also like to dribble and take on players which excites the fans. I’ll bring goals to the team but I’m also hard-working.
“I’m looking forward to playing a step higher next season and I’m confident and ready to get started. I think I will blend in well with the team and the staff as well.
“I’m also good mates with Ade Oluwo as I played with him at Fisher and Tower Hamlets and he’s told me all about the club and how good the players are and that my style will suit the team.
“I’m really excited to get going and show people what I can do and win some games”.
Chelmsford City manager Robbie Simpson commented, “Jamie’s a really exciting prospect for us. His numbers in terms of goals and assists last year were really good so he’s a player that will create loads of chances for us and chip in with a good amount of goals.
“He adds excitement to our front line and we’re looking forward to playing a part in his development as a footballer as well. He’s a perfect fit for us and we can’t wait until he’s in the building and a part of the Claret family.”
