We are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated young forward Kai Torres, who joins our Claret Pathway from Barnet!
The 17-year-old joins having been part of Barnet’s Academy’s league and Champion of Champions winning side. Torres was the Bees’ top scorer, netting 23 times in 21 games. Alongside his success with Barnet’s academy side, Torres featured on loan in the Essex Senior League for Athletic Newham. He found the back of the net a few times for Athletic Newham, most notably scoring a 99th minute winner to secure a 3-2 comeback victory against Buckhurst Hill.
Upon joining the club, Torres said: “I’m very happy to be here, I live local and went to Hylands school in Chelmsford so it is ideal.
“I’ve also played for Chelmsford’s EJA sides at U14s and U15s, so I already know about the club.
“I can’t wait to get started, hopefully to make my first-team debut and make the fans proud!”
Head of Player Pathway Rob Moore said: “I’m delighted to get Kai onto our pathway and can’t wait for him to develop further with us.
“We know how good our own academy side is and he was superb when playing against them recently for Barnet, a real standout player who they spoke very highly of. He’s a local lad and when we heard he could be available we moved very quickly.
“Kai is exactly the kind of player we want on our pathway, a young, ambitious lad who has raw talent in abundance. He’ll train with the first team but knows this is the start of his career, he’ll play regularly for our u21’s and maybe we’ll look to get him out on loan at some point. But for now he has a chance to impress during pre season and we’ll work with him to develop his career and push him further at the football club.”
A big warm welcome to Kai and we look forward to seeing him in action!
