Chelmsford City FC is delighted to announce the appointment of a new member to its advisory board. Joining the existing board is lifelong fan Caroline Barker.
Caroline returns to the club as a non-executive director, after previous involvement working with Spencer at Chelmsford City from 2009-2011. She brings a wealth of experience having also been a board member of the National League.
Caroline’s family have been supporting the club in some shape or form for the last 100 years. With her father once the caretaker at New Writtle Street, her formative years were spent on her brother’s shoulders at the back of the barn, before being elevated to sitting with the cushion throwers in the main stand!
The face of Sky Sports’ coverage of the Women’s Super League and the distinguished voice of Netball, Caroline is an established broadcaster and presenter and one of the most respected journalists in the UK. Founder of the long running Non League Football Show, Caroline has covered a number of high-profile sports for Sky Sports and the BBC including Football World Cups, Olympics and Paralympic games and brings a wealth of media and communication knowledge to the board as well as contacts within the game.
On her appointment to the board, Caroline said “Chelmsford City is part of my family, with Spencer returning and the new direction of the club, it’s brilliant to be part of helping the Clarets root back in the community and watching every part of the club grow together.”
Chairman Spencer Gore commented ‘When Dan and I first discussed putting together an advisory board Caroline’s was one of the first names mentioned along with David Selby. We are so pleased to have her working with us on this exciting journey. Her experience of elite sport combined with her passion for the club make her an ideal addition. We’re grateful to her for accepting our offer and to Sky allowing her to join us.
When not presenting for Sky, Caroline can be found in the main stand with her family, who continue to be season ticket holders at the club.
