Chelmsford City Football Club can now confirm that central midfielder Henry Ochieng has departed the club to join Aldershot Town in the Vanarama National League.
Ochieng has featured 36 times for the Clarets in all competitions in the 22/23 campaign having joined the club in the summer and has scored 2 for the club, against Cheshunt in the league and new team Aldershot in the FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying. Henry established himself as a key component in Robbie Simpson’s side this season and exchanges Essex for Hampshire in a move back into Full-Time football.
Simpson spoke on Ochieng’s departure “We’re really happy for Henry, when we met in the summer we spoke in depth about what his goals are and his goals were to get back into full time football and playing at a high level. I said ‘Okay, no problem, we’ll help you do that’ and by doing so he would help us along the way, which has certainly been the case”
“He’s conducted himself superbly, whether in or out the team, from the start of the season right up until now. He didnt start the season, he came in late. Even with the amount of game’s he’s been rotated in and out and has always conducted himself in a professional manner. He’s helped the players around him get the most out of themselves.”
“Even surrounding the interest [of other clubs to sign Ochieng] Aldershot weren’t the only side interested in signing Henry, we got a couple of 7 day approaches a few weeks ago, Henry’s taken his time to decide what to do. It wasn’t an easy decision for him as he’s absolutely loved it here. We thank him from being notified of the 7 day approaches up until now for still giving his all in every game.”
“We can’t speak highly enough of Henry and we wish him really the best of luck and hope he can kick on from there and get himself back in the Football League”
We all wish to thank Henry for his efforts during his time as a Claret and wish him the very best for his future footballing endeavours!
