21-year-old Arthur Penney joined Chelmsford City in July 2024, following a successful spell at Lewes. Penney picked up both the Manager’s Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards at Lewes in the 23-24 campaign. He started his footballing career at Millwall, where he was from the age of 9. He had previous National League South experience prior to his arrival in Essex after he played 19 times for Welling United in the 21-22 season, scoring once. Penney became the fourth signing of the 2024 summer transfer window to join Chelmsford City from Lewes, following in the footsteps of Archie Tamplin, Sam Oguntayo and Kalvin Kalala.
