Chelmsford City v QPR, Pre-Season Friendly, EMJ Community Stadium, Saturday 12th July 2025, 3:00pm kick-off.

Angelo Harrop’s Chelmsford City squad continue their pre-season preparations for the 2025/26 Enterprise National League South campaign this weekend when they welcome a Queens Park Rangers XI to Essex.

The Clarets began their summer schedule with a goalless draw away to Brentwood Town on Tuesday evening. That outing saw many of Harrop’s new additions make their first appearances in City colours, alongside academy prospects and several trialists.

Following the release of the 2025/26 fixture list earlier this week, with City set to host Horsham on the opening day, attention now turns to a valuable test against EFL opposition.

Opposition:

QPR produced a steady season under former head coach Martí Cifuentes in 2024/25 and finished the season sitting 15th in the Championship. Cifuentes was placed on gardening leave just before the final game of the season, and has since been replaced as Head Coach by Julien Stéphan. The 44-year-old has previously worked in Ligue 1 with Rennes and Strasbourg.

Several R’s academy starlets looking to impress Stéphan could feature in Essex on Saturday, with the club’s academy continuing to play a key role in developing first-team players. One of the standout names to come through the QPR academy of late has been 18-year-old Kieran Morgan, who made over 30 first-team appearances last season and scored his first senior goal in a draw against Coventry. This weekend’s QPR XI is expected to feature a mix of promising academy players and younger squad members looking to make an impression ahead of the new campaign.

Team news:

City boss Angelo Harrop is likely to continue rotating his squad, with another blend of first-team players, academy graduates and trialists expected to be involved.
