We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Defender Sam Gale!
19-year-old Sam Gale joins the Clarets on loan from League 2 side Gillingham. Sam has picked up expereince out on loan before, playing for Sheppey United and Hastings United. Between both loan spell, Sam went on to make a combined 39 league appearances as he continued his development. He has also made his football league debut for Gillingham, coming on as a substitute in November 2021, aged just 17.
Manager Robbie Simpson said: “Obviously we have Geofrey Okonkwo and Cameron James out with long term injuries that will sideline them for a couple of months before we see either of them back and they’ve both missed a large chunk of pre-season.
They’ll both have to do some sort of micro pre-season when they are back so we are looking long term for those 2 which leaves us quite short in terms of centre backs and defenders, so we’ve been on the lookout to add one, maybe 2.
Sam came to our attention, he is doing really well at Gillingham and did all the pre-season with the first team and got a good amount of minutes with them.
He is a good, aggressive, front-footed defender and he is desperate to learn, he was desperate to get out on loan to continue his development and we are delighted to have him.
I know the manager at Gillingham really well, from Cambridge and he has got high hopes for the lad and we hope that we can together help each other out in the short term!”
Welcome to the Clarets Sam!
