Slough Town FC V Chelmsford City FC, National League South, Arbour Park, Saturday 10th August 2024, 3pm kick-off.

The Clarets begin their National League South campaign tomorrow when they travel to Arbour Park, home of Slough Town FC.

Robbie Simpson’s side remain highly motivated after a positive pre-season campaign, with the entire squad eager to get the competitive season underway.

Chelmsford are unbeaten in their last five against Slough, however only two of those fixtures were wins.

City drew both fixtures against Town last season, so expect this fixture to be a tough test for the players to start the campaign off.

Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…

Team & match stats:

  • Tomorrow’s opponents have won all five of their pre-season friendlies.
  • City went winless in their last three pre-season fixtures, including their defeat in the Tolleshunt D’Arcy Final against Witham Town.
  • Chelmsford have only lost to Slough once since 2021.
  • This exact fixture finished as a 0-0 draw last season, with one red card apiece.

Opposition:

Slough finished 10th in the National League South last season, narrowly missing out on a play-off place by five points.

The Rebels have bolstered their squad in the off-season, adding former Clarets midfielder Henry Ochieng, who joined the Rebels last month.

Town are unique in their own way in the league, as the only side to have a player-manager, with Scott Davies at the first team’s helm.

Henry Ochieng made 29 National League South appearances in Claret last season. The midfielder has now linked up another former City man in Scott Davies, who is the Rebels' player-manager

Team news:

Chelmsford City Head of Medical Arron Benstead spoke to ClaretsTV earlier this week and gave a comprehensive update on player fitness ahead of tomorrow’s match. The full interview with Arron can be seen below.
