Chelmsford City v Torquay United, National League South, EMJ Community Stadium, Saturday 22nd February 2025, 3:00pm kick-off.
Chelmsford City take on Torquay United at the EMJ Community Stadium this weekend.
The Clarets have lost one of their last six National League South games and have climbed to 9th in the standings after beating Salisbury last Saturday.
As Robbie Simpson’s side aim to close the gap on the teams above them in the league table, they face the hardest side to beat in the division so far this season.
Paul Wooton’s Gulls have lost five league matches in 2024-25, the least in the division, and will hope to continue their promotion push this weekend in Essex.
Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…
Team and match stats:
- City are unbeaten in their last six games at the EMJ Community Stadium (W2, D4).
- The Gulls are winless on the road in the National League South since November 30th.
- The Clarets have picked up points in their last two games against Torquay United (W1, D1).

Opposition:
Despite a recent drop in form, Torquay United have responded to their frustrating 2023-24 campaign by putting themselves firmly in the promotion mix this season.
The Gulls began 2025 by beating Truro City to extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions, which allowed them to lead the way at the top of the National League South table. However, a run of two draws followed by back-to-back defeats brought this run to a stop and saw the Gulls fall off the summit of the table.
Since losing to Maidstone United in the first game of February, Wooton’s side have bounced back. They have won two of their past three games and sit 3rd in the standings.
Winning away from home will consolidate the Gulls’ return to form and help breed more confidence in the Devon-based side’s dressing room. United’s emphatic 4-1 away win against Enfield Town at the end of November represents their last league win on the road, a winless run that the Gulls will want to eradicate in Essex this weekend.

Team news:
Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and Frankie Edwards are both available for selection again after being cup-tied for Tuesday night’s Essex Senior Cup tie against Canvey Island.
Cameron James, Saleem Akanbi and Freddie Hockey all look set to continue being sidelined.
