Chelmsford City v Worthing, National League South, EMJ Community Stadium, Saturday 1st March 2025, 3:00pm kick-off.

Chelmsford City welcome Worthing to Essex on Saturday.

City are unbeaten in their last seven home games and will hope their strong record at the EMJ Community Stadium can help them get back to winning ways and overcome the disappointment of Tuesday’s narrow defeat to Worthing’s play-off rivals, Boreham Wood.

The Rebels were also in midweek action and lost ground on those around them in the play-off places, falling to a narrow 2-1 home defeat to Farnborough.

As such, both teams on Saturday will be looking to use the game as an opportunity to forget about their most recent outings.

Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…

Team and match stats:

  • City are unbeaten in their last seven home games (W3, D4).
  • Worthing have won two of their previous three visits to the EMJ Community Stadium.

Opposition:

Former Hastings United boss Chris Agutter has enjoyed a successful first season in National League South management. The 36-year-old has implemented a style of play that aligns with the Rebels’ commitment to playing an attacking-minded brand of football, while still getting his side into the mix at the top end of the league table.

Agutter’s side are currently fourth in the league table but have two games in hand on current table-toppers Dorking Wanderers, who are four points ahead of them. Until recently, the Rebels sat at the top of the tree after going on a sensational run of form, which included a two-month unbeaten streak in the league, with away wins over play-off rivals such as Dorking and Maidstone United.

However, this run was abruptly cut short around two weeks ago, when Worthing were unexpectedly on the receiving end of a 4-0 loss away to Slough Town. In their first away game since that shock defeat, Agutter’s men will be keen to banish the memories from that day. Former Hornchurch attacker Liam Nash will be a key figure in helping his side do so – since his move to Sussex in early February, he has been one of the division’s form players and has netted four goals in his first five appearances.

Forward Mo Faal will hope he can continue his strong record against the Clarets and score in back-to-back matches, after he found the net last time out in his side’s loss to Farnborough. Faal has scored three career goals against Chelmsford City in five appearances and equalised for his side in the 1-1 draw between City and Worthing back in November.
