We are delighted to announce the signing of Defender Joe Grimwood from Barnet for a club record undisclosed fee!
The 23-year-old joins after winning promotion to League 2 with Barnet. His promotion winning campaign made it 3 in a row, having won with AFC Sudbury and Braintree Town as well. At Sudbury he progressed through their youth ranks, becoming club captain in March 2022 in the Isthmian League North. A year later they were promoted through the playoffs, which Grimwood would go on to do a year later with Angelo Harrop at Braintree. After winning Manager’s Player of the Year, he joined Barnet and was part of their promotion-winning side. He also had a brief spell with Braintree again on loan, impressing which helped get him into the side at Barnet.
Upon joining the club, Grimwood said: “I’m really excited to be here, as soon as I spoke to Angelo and Spencer they told me about the project and I was onboard.
“I know how to play under Angelo and have really enjoyed the systems that he played and he was a massive factor to bringing me to the club.
“I’m really looking forward to getting going this season.”
Manager Angelo Harrop said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have managed to get this deal done with Joe.
“He’s a player that I personally know very well and have already had huge success with in this league.
“He will hopefully be a big part of this clubs future in its quest to be in the football league, I can’t wait to get started with him.”
