Chelmsford City is delighted to announce a partnership with U.S Sports Scholarships.

The scholarship programme was developed in 2008 and has the aim of helping young male and female athletes into placements at American colleges and universities.

Over that 14-year period, U.S SS has sent over 700 athletes to the United States and secured over $20m in sports scholarship awards.

As well as providing a path for Academy players to American colleges and universities, future men’s and women’s trial events will be held at the Club.

Speaking on the partnership, Academy Manager Mickey Spillane said: “Our Academy is about providing excellent education and excellent football opportunities.

“This partnership with U.S Sports Scholarship gives our players the chance to extend this into universities in America combining completing a degree and football to set them up for their futures.

“The partnership we have made with U.S Sports Scholarships is a perfect match for us at CCFC and offers another excellent exit route from our Academy.

“They are a bespoke, professional company that works on behalf of our players and gives the personal attention to finding the best opportunities across the pond to match each individual to the right university should any of our players wish to explore that option.

“We’re excited to hear some success stories over the coming years!”

While U.S Sports Scholarships Managing Director Liam Barrett commented: “We are delighted to officially partner with Chelmsford City, a club that I know very well and have admired for a long while in terms of how they both recruit and operate.

“They share the same philosophy as us as an organisation in wanting to help develop talented student-athletes and in the process give them the best possible chance to play at the highest level possible.

“Chelmsford work with some of the very best young athletes in the region and we are excited to work with many of them in the next stages of their career in becoming future US college soccer stars.

“We would also like to thank Mickey for his efforts in helping bring our two organisations together.”
