Chelmsford City can announce that young forward Anisius Lewis is joining Isthmian North side Hullbridge Sports on loan.
Lewis, has played for the club’s successful academy side and has been prolific so far this season for the club’s reserve team in the Essex & Suffolk Border League with 11 goals in the first 6 games of this season. In terms of his first team involvement, he has made 1 appearance, which was as a late substitute away at Oxford City in February 2021, and he provided an assist for Simeon Jackson’s first Chelmsford City goal. He has also been an unused substitute 5 times in the Vanarama National League South for City, including twice this season.
Chelmsford City manager Robbie Simpson commented, “Anisius was out all last season with a back injury and we wanted him to get back playing football this season. We sat down with him and we said that for the first month of the season minimum and possibly up to three months we wanted him to play for the reserves and get back to where we know he can be and to be fair to Anisius he has hit the ground running with them.
He’s really looked the part for the reserves so in terms of his development he’s not going to learn too much more continuing to play at that level so the move to Hullbridge makes total sense in that regard. He’ll come up against new challenges and he’ll improve and get better and that will come with playing at a higher level in a team really fighting for three points. We know that he’s going to go there with the right attitude and become one of the best players at that level. He should go there and prove why he should be in my thoughts going forward as well.
I think it’s a really great loan move for Anisius and I know he can’t wait to get going and we can’t wait to see how he adapts to that level of football.”
This continues our pathway with Hullbridge Sports who have already Guy Norton and Reggie Gregory on loan as well as Evan Payne on dual-registration.
Hullbridge are next in action in the FA Trophy on Tuesday 13th September away to Three Bridges (7.45pm kickoff) or then away to Tilbury in the Isthmian North on Tuesday 20th September (7.45pm kickoff).
