We can confirm that Callum Jones has departed the Clarets.

Manager Robbie Simpson said: “ Having been in discussions with Callum for a while, we have mutually decided that it is best for both parties that he moves on and signs for another club.

When Jonesy got released from Colchester off the back of a really bad injury we really saw something in him that we could help him get over his injury and bounce back into the football league and professional football.

He has had terrible, terrible luck in his first 2 seasons, suffering 2 long term injuries again and then last season was his first full injury free season in mens football.

We thought, when you take that into account, we felt like he had a really good first season and felt he was ready to kick on.

But, in order to do so, myself and Jonesy have both agreed that he needs to be playing week in, week out and being someone’s main man.

That is probably where he deserves to be right now and that is probably best for his development to be able to help him bounce back up into professional football.

We have mutually agreed to part ways but we wish him all the best and will be tracking his progress.”

Thank you for all your efforts in a Clarets shirts Callum, and best of luck for the future!
