Chelmsford City is delighted to announce that attacking midfielder Kai Yearn has re-joined on a season-long youth loan from Sky Bet League One outfit Cambridge United.
Kai, 17, impressed the Clarets faithful with his skill and talent in his previous loan spell but was recalled by Cambridge on New Year’s Eve. Kai then appeared as an unused substitute for the U’s league matches against Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers.
Kai made 19 appearances for the club in his first spell with the Clarets, scoring 2 goals in back to back wins over Redditch in the FA Trophy and then away at Worthing in the Vanarama National League South. Such was his form and popularity with supporters that he was nominated for the Clarets’ November Player of the Month award.
Chelmsford City manager Robbie Simpson commented, “I’m delighted Kai’s back with us. We understood the reasons why Cambridge recalled him which were totally fair.”
“Unfortunately he didn’t get any game time when he went back, but they have now had some players return from injury. They have also made a few signings now that the [transfer] window is open, so they are in a position now where Kai can come back to us and continue his development.
“Cambridge have been really pleased with how he’s developed with us and they want that to continue. In all honesty, we were biding our time looking for a replacement as we thought Kai coming back would be on the cards and so it has been proved that way. Hopefully he can continue where he left off before he left us.”
