The FA Youth Cup second qualifying round match this evening is a 7:30pm kick-off.
Chelmsford City Academy are back in action in the FA Youth Cup with a second qualifying round match against Ware FC at the EMG Inspire Stadium tonight, 27th September.
The academy side, led by First-Team Assistant Manager Mickey Spillane and assisted by former Clarets player Elliott Ward have continued their good form from last season’s FA Youth Cup, where they reached the second round proper.
They have already dispatched Stanway Rovers and Walthamstow, both by a scoreline of 3-2 to progress to the second qualifying round.
Ware have reached the second qualifying round after receiving a walkover against Barkingside in the preliminary round and then by beating Takeley 3-1 away from home in the last round.
Ware’s first team have progressed in the Emirates FA Cup this year, claiming victory in four rounds already, coincidentally also knocking out Takeley, and then going through against Hashtag United, Colney Heath and Hemel Hempstead to set up a plum draw this Saturday against Vanarama National League North side Kidderminster Harriers.
Star players this year for the Academy have been striker Freddie Hockey who has scored a brace in both FA Youth Cup games so far and has featured four times in the Vanarama National League South this season as well.
Midfielder Alfie Gilbey scored the winner in the previous round and last Wednesday scored an eight-minute hat-trick for Chelmsford City Reserves to take his tally to six for the season in the Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division.
Talented winger Luke Deslandes is also one to watch having notched on Saturday for the reserves to become their top scorer with seven.
Tickets can be bought in advance by clicking here or they can be purchased at the gate.
Live commentary can be found here on Radio Clarets and live updates will be on the Academy’s Twitter page here.
