Chelmsford City can confirm that eight friendly fixtures have been arranged ahead of the 2022/23 season.

After arriving back for pre-season training at the start of July, the Clarets will travel to Coles Park to face Isthmian League Premier Division side Haringey Borough on Saturday, 9th July in a repeat of last season’s first pre-season fixture, which the Clarets won 3-1.

Three days later, Robbie Simpson’s side will face Southern League Division One Central outfit Hertford FC at Hertingfordbury Park on Tuesday, 12th July.

Then the Clarets will look to gain revenge as we travel to the Len Salmon Stadium to face Bowers & Pitsea FC, who knocked the Clarets out of the Essex Senior Cup last season before losing in the final to Billericay Town.

Then City face 2 home games in 3 days with the first being against a Colchester United XI, as the Clarets welcome the U’s to the Melbourne Community Stadium. Wayne Brown’s side will be itching to impress as they look to go in a new direction under his management and new Head of Recruitment, Ross Embleton.

On Friday 22nd July we host a Millwall XI at 7.45pm. Gary Rowett’s men finished just outside the Sky Bet Championship play-offs last season so it will be a tough test for Robbie Simpson’s men.

Then a Chelmsford City XI travel to take on Jason Maher’s Saffron Walden Town at Catons Lane. The Bloods just missed out on promotion to the Isthmian North from the Essex Senior League last season, losing to Witham Town in a promotion/relegation playoff.

Finally the Clarets will travel to National League side Wealdstone on Saturday 30th July, whilst a City XI will host Isthmian North outfit Hullbridge Sports on the same date at the EMG Inspire Stadium.

Hullbridge picked up 14 points from their last 8 games to stay up after being well adrift early on in the season. Chelmsford City Academy players Freddie Hockey and Evan Payne spent some time there last season on dual-registration as well, with Hockey scoring in their win at AFC Sudbury in April.
