Chelmsford City can announce that left-back Guy Norton has joined Isthmian North side Hullbridge Sports on a youth loan.
This move is part of our ongoing partnership with Hullbridge Sports, which involves our reserves playing their home games at Lower Road and he joins young defender Evan Payne there who is playing for the Sports on dual-registration.
Guy has been on a few loans before, spending time with Brantham Athletic and Witham Town, and has made 15 appearances for the Chelmsford City first team, with some impressive performances, including an exemplary display against Dartford when City grabbed a 0-0 draw despite playing the majority of the encounter with 10 men.
Chelmsford City manager Robbie Simpson commented on the move, “It’ll do Guy the world of good to go out and get some games and play week in and week out men’s football. Guy’s been a bit unlucky as he wasn’t allowed to go out on loan a couple of years ago because of Covid. Then last year he was in the team and playing well but he got Covid and then Eduino Vaz got his chance and took it. It’s been hard luck on Guy and we’ve been a bit selfish keeping him around because of our small squad last season. He’s missed out on a bit of his development so that’s he ready to play Step 2 every week. It’s going to be great for Guy to get out on loan and continue his learning of the men’s game and he’ll come back stronger for it, I’m sure of that.”
Guy could make his debut for Hullbridge as they travel to Stowmarket Town on the opening day of the Isthmian North season on Saturday 13th August, kick-off 3pm.
All at Chelmsford City wish Guy the best of luck out on loan with Hullbridge.
