Luke Jenkins has been called up to the England C squad for their upcoming game against Wales C on Tuesday, March 19th!
The game will be played at Llanelli Town’s Stebonheath Park, in Wales, where Paul Fairclough’s non-League Lions will contest their fifth meeting with Wales. Last year, the Three Lions won 1-0, courtesy of a Ryan De Havilland goal.
Luke has totalled 42 appearances this season for the Clarets, finding the back of the net 4 times.
Luke becomes just the second Chelmsford player to be called into the England C squad after Ricky Holmes was, in 2008.
Manager Robbie Simpson said: “I’m delighted for Luke!
Not only to deal with the setback of being released from a Football League club but to then have the resilience and determination to drop down 2 levels in order to bounce back.
The belief and trust he has shown in us in his development has been incredible and he thoroughly deserves this!
It looks great on us as a club, as well!
I’m not sure whether we have had any called up to England C before but it really is a great accolade to the cub as well and the progress that we are making in terms of developing players.
Good luck to Luke if he plays the game and we will be right behind him!”
Luke was initially called up to the contingency squad however, has now officially been asked to make the trip to Wales on Tuesday night and be in the squad!
Congratulations Jenko!
