Chelmsford City have been drawn away against Vanarama National League outfit Barnet in the Emirates FA Cup 1st Round.

The last time the two sides were drawn against each other was in the 4th Qualifying Round back in the 2014-15 season when the first game finished in a 0-0 draw at Melbourne. In the replay Barnet showed their class by going into a 3 goal lead inside half an hour with goals from John Akinde, David Stephens and Curtis Weston. City showed some fight and got 1 back through youngster Joe Ward but Spanish midfielder Luisma sealed the deal for a 4-1 win in the 77th minute. Barnet went on to win the National League that season under Martin Allen.

Barnet’s regular keeper is Laurie Walker who was on loan at the Clarets from MK Dons in the 2019-20 season and played some games in the early reign of City boss Robbie Simpson that season. They also have Sean Shields who had a brief loan spell with the Clarets back in 2015. Nicke Kabamba is their top scorer with an impressive 9 strikes already this season.

The tie is scheduled to take place at Barnet’s Hive Stadium between the 4th and 7th November. More information including ticket details and confirmed fixture date will be communicated nearer the date of the fixture.

Chelmsford City’s tie against Ebbsfleet in the Vanarama National League South scheduled for Saturday 5th November has been postponed due to both sides progression in the Emirates FA Cup.
