Chelmsford City Football Club is delighted to announce that Defender, Cameron James, has agreed to stay with the Clarets

James is one of the longest serving members at Chelmsford City Football club having played 101 games during his 3 seasons with the club since joining from Colchester United in August 2020. Cameron made 47 appearances for the Clarets last season, scoring twice which includes his Club Goal of the Season Winner and Vanarama National League South Goal of the Season Nominee! The 25 year-old has been instrumental to the Clarets in his time at the Club and has shown what he can do across a range of defensive positions but what he can also bring to the table going forwards.

Manager Robbie Simpson shared his thoughts on Cameron James committing to the Clarets ahead of the new Season “Cameron had a really strong season last year, you could see the progression from the season before. His versatility is so key to us, he can play on the left side of defence, he can play as a Centre Back and he can obviously lay as a Right Back and we saw in a couple of games last year how he can play Right Wing-Back and be a real threat going forward for us there. His versatility is key, his consistency last year was top drawer and you can count on him in the dressing room as well. He’s Chelmsford through and through. He lives in Chelmsford, he’s from Chelmsford, he really is a Claret through and through. That’s infectious amongst the other lads that aren’t from the area or don’t know what Chelmsford is all about, Cameron soon makes them know and makes them buy into what being a Claret is all about. He’s a key person for us as a part of our squad and on the pitch and we are delighted that he’s agreed to stay!”

We are delighted that Cameron has agreed to stay with the Clarets and we look forward to seeing him back in Claret for the new Season!
